1.Double click on YAM-Install icon and fire it up.
2.Goto Gmail - create an App Password first, and copy generated 16-character
password.(if you need more howto see/find 6.1
at bottom of this read me).
3.Goto Installed path and run/double click on ConfigYamAros.
4.if step 3 done run YAM.

Issues
------
If there any crashes/issue run yamd.debug and email me imap_debug.log and

0) SELF-INSTALLER (RECOMMENDED)
-------------------------------

The package contains a small MUI/Zune installer that does the copying for
you. Double-click:

    install_YAM_AROS/YAM-Install

or start it from the Shell:

    install_YAM_AROS/YAM-Install

Then:

  1. Choose the drawer to install YAM into. The default is SYS:Tools/yam;
     press "Browse..." to pick any other drawer.
  2. Press "Install". A progress bar shows the copy, and a log lists what
     happens. "Abort" stops the copy.
  3. When it says "Installation complete", press "Close".

The installer copies:

    * the whole YAM program folder to the chosen drawer
    * amisslmaster.library      -> SYS:Libs/
    * amissl_v362.library       -> SYS:Libs/AmiSSL/
    * ca-bundle.crt             -> SYS:Libs/AmiSSL/Certs/

The AmiSSL destinations are fixed (that is where amisslmaster.library looks
for the versioned library, see section 2).

The installer also adds the AmiSSL assign to the TOP of S:User-Startup:

    Assign AmiSSL: SYS:Libs/AmiSSL

A backup of the original is kept as S:User-Startup.bak and the line is only
added if it is not already present.

If you tick "Start YAM automatically at boot", it also appends, AFTER the
assign (YAM needs AmiSSL to be assigned first):

    CD <your install drawer>
    Run >NIL: YAM

The rest of this document describes the same steps manually and how to set
up your mail accounts (POP3, SMTP, IMAP) and use YAM.

1) COPY YAM
-----------

Copy the whole "YAM" folder to your AROS system, for example:

    copy yum-yum/YAM SYS:Tools/yam ALL

The folder already contains .config / .users, so your accounts (login info),
folders and address book are preserved.

2) AmiSSL - ASSIGN AND LIBRARIES
--------------------------------

YAM needs AmiSSL for secure POP3/SMTP/IMAP. The self-installer (section 0)
does all of this for you. To do it manually:

a) Add this Assign line to the TOP of S:User-Startup:

       Assign AmiSSL: SYS:Libs/AmiSSL

b) Copy the AmiSSL drawer into your LIBS: so that these files exist:

       SYS:Libs/amisslmaster.library
       SYS:Libs/AmiSSL/amissl_v362.library
       SYS:Libs/AmiSSL/Certs/ca-bundle.crt

   For example:

       copy AmiSSL/Libs/amisslmaster.library        LIBS:
       copy AmiSSL/Libs/AmiSSL/amissl_v362.library  LIBS:AmiSSL
       copy AmiSSL/Libs/AmiSSL/Certs/#?             LIBS:AmiSSL/Certs

   IMPORTANT: amisslmaster.library must be in LIBS: (NOT in LIBS:AmiSSL/),
   and amissl_v362.library must be in LIBS:AmiSSL/. amisslmaster looks for
   the versioned library in the sub-drawer "AmiSSL". If amissl_v362.library
   is flat in LIBS:, YAM logs "AmiSSL: OpenAmiSSLTags() returned an error" and
   starts without SSL.

   (AmiSSL v5.27 / OpenSSL 3.6.2, built for AROS x86_64.)

3) MUI / ZUNE CLASSES
---------------------

YAM needs several MUI classes (toolbar, lists, string gadgets, text editor,
...). Copy the WHOLE Classes/Zune folder into your system's classes drawer
(usually SYS:Classes/Zune):

    copy yum-yum/Classes/Zune/#? SYS:Classes/Zune ALL

or, if your Shell does not support the pattern, copy the folder over the
existing one, replacing files when asked.

The important ones for YAM are:

    TheBar.mcc v26.22 (toolbar; TheBarVirt.mcc is its virtual variant)
    TheButton.mcc            (buttons)
    NList.mcc  NListview.mcc  NListtree.mcc  NBalance.mcc
    NBitmap.mcc  NFloattext.mcc
    BetterString.mcc         (string gadgets)
    TextEditor.mcc           (mail editor)
    Toolbar.mcc  Busy.mcc  IconImage.mcc  Rawimage.mcc  Graph.mcc ...

Just copy all 63 files - if YAM asks for a class, it is then already there.

4) RUN YAM
----------

From the Shell:

    cd SYS:Tools/yam
    YAM

or double-click the YAM icon.

To start YAM automatically at boot, add to S:User-Startup (the assign must
come first, because YAM needs AmiSSL):

    Assign AmiSSL: SYS:Libs/AmiSSL
    CD SYS:Tools/yam
    Run >NIL: YAM

5) LOGIN / SETTINGS
------------------

    .config all settings, including POP3/SMTP accounts and the password
               (stored with YAM's own encoding, not as plain text)
    .users the user list and mail directory
    .folders   the folder tree
    .addressbook  the address book

Keep these together with the YAM folder to keep your login. If you delete
.config, YAM starts with a fresh, empty configuration and you have to enter
your account again.

IMPORTANT - ALWAYS COPY .config / .folders / .users TOGETHER WITH THE YAM FOLDER
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
YAM writes .config (and .folders) back to its program directory on every exit.
If YAM starts without finding a valid .config it silently creates a NEW, EMPTY
one and saves it - overwriting your account. This is what produces the
"Confirmation request: invalid configuration (missing SMTP/POP)" requester.

So when you copy this package to your AROS system, copy the WHOLE "YAM" folder,
including the hidden "." files. Do not copy only YAM/YAM.debug. On a FAT USB the
dot files ARE present even though some file managers hide them; check with the
Shell:

    Dir yum-yum/YAM ALL

After the first successful start, .config will contain your Gmail account, e.g.:

    POP00.Server      = pop.gmail.com
    POP00.User        = recent:serk118()gmail.com
    POP00.Password    = <encoded>
    SMTP00.Server     = smtp.gmail.com
    SMTP00.Port       = 465
    SMTP00.SecMethod  = 2
    SMTP00.AUTH-Pass  = <encoded>

If you ever get the "invalid configuration" requester again, YAM has replaced
.config with an empty one. Restore it from the backup copy of the package and
DO NOT let YAM save over the restored file before you confirm the account is
present; keep a second copy of .config somewhere safe.

6) SETTING UP YOUR ACCOUNTS (POP3, SMTP, IMAP)
---------------------------------------------

All accounts are configured from within YAM:

    Config -> TCP/IP

That page has three register tabs:

    "Receive Mail"   POP3 accounts
    "Send Mail"      SMTP accounts
    "IMAP"           IMAP accounts

Use the account list NList and the "Add"/"Delete"/"Up"/"Down" buttons to
manage accounts. Choose the server, port, security mode, user name and
password. For each account you can also pick which local YAM folder receives
the mail. Press "Save" when you are done.

### 6.1 Gmail - create an App Password first

Gmail no longer accepts your normal account password for POP/SMTP/IMAP. You
must create an App Password:

    1. Google Account -> Security -> turn on 2-Step Verification.
    2. Security -> App passwords -> generate one for "Mail".
    3. Use the generated 16-character password in YAM (POP, SMTP and IMAP).

The password is stored in .config with YAM's own simple encoding (not plain
text), but treat the file as sensitive.

### 6.2 POP3 (receive mail)

    Server     : pop.gmail.com
    Port       : 995
    Security   : SSL (implicit)
    User : your full e-mail address
    Password : the 16-character App Password

Options: leave mail on server, delete downloaded mail, and "Download only
recent mails (Gmail)". With the last option YAM sends USER recent:<name>, so
only mail from roughly the last 30 days is listed - handy for large Gmail
accounts.

Gmail's POP server only offers "recent" mail when the user name is prefixed
with "recent:", for example:

    recent:you()gmail.com

For all mail, in Gmail enable:

    Settings -> Forwarding and POP/IMAP ->
    "Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)"

### 6.3 SMTP (send mail)

    Server     : smtp.gmail.com
    Port       : 465
    Security   : Implicit SSL (SecMethod = 2)
    User : your full e-mail address
    Password : the 16-character App Password

IMPORTANT: use implicit SSL on port 465. STARTTLS (port 587) is not reliable
on AROS with the current socket/AmiSSL stack. Sending works independently of
how you receive mail (POP3 or IMAP).

### 6.4 IMAP (receive mail, server-side folders)

    Server     : imap.gmail.com
    Port       : 993
    Security   : SSL (implicit)
    User : your full e-mail address
    Password : the 16-character App Password

IMAP keeps the mail on the server. On the first check YAM connects, lists the
mailboxes you are subscribed to, creates matching local folders under a group
named after the account ("IMAP: <description>"), and downloads the mail
bodies. Later checks only fetch new messages (based on UIDVALIDITY/UIDNEXT),
and removed messages are cleaned up locally.

Notes:
  - IMAP is receive-only; sending always goes through SMTP (section 6.3).
  - The first sync of a large mailbox (e.g. the Gmail inbox) can take a while.
    The info bar shows a progress gauge and an [X] button - press it to abort.
  - Do not delete the hidden .imapcache drawer inside an IMAP folder: it tracks
    which server UIDs have already been fetched.

The equivalent .config keys are, for example:

    POP00.Server / POP00.Port / POP00.SecMethod / POP00.User / POP00.Password
    SMTP00.Server / SMTP00.Port / SMTP00.SecMethod / SMTP00.User /
SMTP00.AUTH-Pass
    IMAP00.Server / IMAP00.Port / IMAP00.SecMethod / IMAP00.User /
IMAP00.Password

7) USING YAM
------------

Folders
    YAM creates the standard folders Incoming, Draft, Outgoing, Sent, Trash
    and Spam. Right-click / use the menus to create, rename, move, compress
    or encrypt folders.

Getting mail
    Press "Get mail" (toolbar/menu) to check all configured POP3 and IMAP
    accounts. New mail appears in Incoming (or the account's store folder).
    The folder list shows the count; the list shows sender, subject, date and
    status icons. Downloaded-mail tracking (UIDL) is saved after every
    message, so an interrupted session does not re-download the same mail.

Reading
    Select a message to read it in the read pane; double-click to open it in a
    separate window. Use Reply / Reply All / Forward / Bounce from the
    toolbar. Attachments can be viewed or saved (datatype/library permitting).

Writing
    "Write" opens a new message. Fill in To/Cc/Bcc and Subject, type the body
    and press Send. Recipients are matched against your address book and
    e-mail cache. "Save as draft" stores the message in Draft.

Address book
    Address Book (menu) supports entries, groups and distribution lists. Add a
    sender with one click from a read message.

Spam filter
    A built-in Bayesian filter can move suspected spam to the Spam folder
    (enable under Config -> Spam). Train it first: an untrained filter is
    conservative and will not classify mail as spam until you have marked some
    messages as good/bad.

Shutdown
    Quit from the menu or close the main window. YAM saves its configuration
    and releases its resources.

8) NOTES
--------

- Do NOT delete YAM/.uidl_* - it prevents downloading the same mail twice.
- Run the release binary "YAM". Use "YAM.debug" only when debugging.
- Any time you change account settings, YAM writes them back to .config.
- After changing settings always press "Save"; YAM writes .config atomically
  on AROS (temporary file + rename) so a crash will not truncate it.

10) TROUBLESHOOTING - STARTUP CRASH (SplashWindow / OCLASS=0)
-----------------------------------------------------------

If YAM crashes right at startup with a crash log like:

    m_SplashWindow_OM_NEW + 0x23F ... DoMethod ... Illegal address
    OS: Unknown CPU error / PC in DoMethod

then the MUI object creation on your AROS runs on a different Zune/MUI than
the one YAM was built against. The same binary runs fine on the AROS build
used to create this package.

Things to try, in this order:

1) Copy ALL the classes from this package into SYS:Classes/Zune
   (see section 3). Your existing Zune classes must be replaced by the ones
   here.

2) If it still crashes, copy "Libs/muimaster.library" from this package into
   LIBS: (keep a backup of the old one first!). This is the matching MUI
   runtime that YAM was tested with (v19.80). Depending on your AROS, a file
   in LIBS: can override the Kickstart ROM version if its version is higher.

       copy Libs/muimaster.library LIBS: ; back up the old one first!

   If YAM then works, the crash was a Zune/MUI mismatch. If AROS becomes
   unstable, restore your original muimaster.library.

3) If it still crashes, the Kickstart/ROM Intuition of that AROS is not
   compatible with this ABIv11 build. In that case YAM must be compiled with
   the toolchain of that exact AROS (native build), or run on the AROS build
   this package was built for.

Note: this is a platform/runtime issue, not a YAM configuration problem -
no setting or file inside the YAM folder can fix it.
